Gabonese Republic is located in the west of the African Continent, with a population of 1,608,321, making it the 153rd largest in national population. Its capital is and largest city is Libreville with a total population of 578,156. The country encompasses 267,667 square kilometers making it the 76th largest country in total area. It shares boundaries with Cameroon, Republic of Congo, Atlantic Ocean and Equatorial Guinea.

The languages commonly or officially spoken are French, Fang, Myene, Nzebi, Bapounou/ Eschira and Bandjabi. It counts among its major religions Christian, Animist and Muslim. As sources of mass communication it has 6 AM, 7 FM, 4 Short Wave and 4 Television stations.

Major geographical features are Mont Iboundji, its highest point at 1,575 meters and Atlantic Ocean, its lowest point at 0 meters. Its principal waterway is Ogooue River, which measures 310 meters.

Major industries providing for the bulk of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) are petroleum extraction and refining, manganese gold, chemicals, ship repair, food and beverage production, textiles, lumbering and plywood and cement. Its
official currency is Communaute Financiere Africaine franc.
