Priceline’s second-quarter earnings jumped 24% from a year earlier, continuing to benefit from bookings growth outside the U.S. and resurgent hotel demand.
The company increased worldwide hotel bookings by 38%, while bookings outside the U.S. jumped 44% from a year earlier.
Overall bookings were up 38% from a year earlier to $10.1 billion. Priceline in May had forecast that second-quarter bookings would rise as much as 34%.
As a result, Priceline’s net income increased to $437.4 million from $352.7 million, while revenue rose 27% to $1.68 billion, beating the $1.66 billion average estimate by analysts polled by Bloomberg.
