Serving to recognise the world’s finest travel, tourism and hospitality organisations, the awards span seven continents celebrating the very best in the global travel trade.

Upon receiving the award, general manager Xavier Burbano de Lara commented: “The award is a reflection of the dedication and love which our team shows every day of the year and our commitment to the people and unique ecosystem of the Galápagos Islands.”

Since opening, The Finch Bay has continually led the way in sustainable practices, implementing a number of key energy-saving measures throughout the hotel.

Initiatives include the use of solar panels across the resort saving 50-70 per cent of the energy required to heat water, a composting system which enriches the hotel’s organic vegetable, fruit and herb garden and the installation of their very own water treatment plant, making the Finch Bay the only hotel in Puerto Ayora to have one.

In the context of such a treasured location, the hotel’s staff actively embrace their responsibility to continue these practices and encourage guests to do the same during their stay.
