Anchuthengu is an historical place a beautiful scenery coast, which is about 12 km away from the Vakala and 36 km far from the city Trivandrum. In the 17th century era, this fort represents the architectural style of the British rule. As the witness of colonial era of India, this fort is located on the outer region of the Kovalam. This fort was built as an invincible stronghold of the British East India Company in the year 1800. In 1695 after it got completed, it was used as a source of lighthouse for guiding the ships arriving from the Britain. There is about an old Dutch cemetery just at the side of the ruins of the fort. There are groups of ferns and ivy on the headstones in this fort. The air in this cemetery is like humid with a silence to give a goosebumps.

Before this place comes under the British East India, this place was under a Portuguese decision at the thick groves of palm with a perfect sand shore. Anchuthengu has witnessed historical places like beaches, lighthouse, architectural churches, and an ancient 100-years old convent school.
