The Dubai government is looking forward to bring a massive boost in the emirate's tourism industry. Continuing effective efforts to achieve the targets, Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing has launched the Futurism Programme for the third time, a premium entrepreneurial platform for tech- startups globally.
The paradigm shift in the tourism ecosystem in Dubai will be powered by modern tech and innovation, and the third edition the Futurism Programme is a significant step that fits into it. Collaborating with leading professional services company Accenture, Dubai Tourism is hoping to make this edition a grand success like the previous ones. One of the key reasons behind this event's growing importance in the startup scene is the continuous support from investors like Tajawal- Seera Group, Atlantis The Palm, Emaar Hospitality Group and the Emirates Group.
Prior to the launch of the event, Dubai Tourism organized a workshop for the key stakeholders to discuss new travel and technology trends, to establish the key themes of the programme. The Emirates Group, Tajawal-Seera Group, Atlantis The Palm, Emaar Hospitality Group, Accor and Dubai Airports sent their representatives to attend the workshop, making it immensely successful.
According to Khaleej Times, the third edition of the Futurism Programme invites aspiring entrepreneurs to submit their applications before the end of July. The judging panel comprising Dubai Tourism's senior leadership, its partners, and leading tech experts will shortlist 10 startups from the entries. The shortlisted companies will then go through a 6-week long accelerator program before finalizing a pilot project. At the end, the startups will pitch their ideas to a group of business owners, investors and venture capitalists at the Dubai Tourism stand at Gitex Future Stars, the Middle East and Africa's largest start-up conference of global tech entrepreneurs, international investors and influential corporate buyers, which will be hosted later this year.
The winner and the runner-up will receive a total cash prize of Dh100,000, while the winner will additionally get relevant Dubai visas, office space and potential opportunity to secure future funding.
Yousuf Lootah, executive director of Tourism Development & Investments, Dubai Tourism, said: "Since the inception of the Futurism Programme in 2017, Dubai Tourism has helped shine a light on several pioneering start-up businesses from around the world, supporting them to become true success stories, as their solutions have led to impactful improvements to the travel and tourism sector. The launch of the third edition is testament to the Programme's ongoing success and the huge interest it has gained among Dubai Tourism's partners, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and stakeholders within the start-up and tourism ecosystems. The Futurism Programme forms part of our ongoing efforts to drive Dubai's tourism industry into the digital era, ensuring the city's leading position as a global destination."
