The Indian railways will soon unveil a 20-coach premier train called the ‘Tejas Express’ that will run between Mumbai and Goa. The passengers travelling in this train will be spoilt for choices with its state-of-the-art facilities that will include celebrity chefs, WiFi, automatic doors, tea-coffee vending machines, magazines and snack tables. In addition it will have sensorised taps and hand driers. It is also the first train to have a secured gangways for all coaches. The train is expected to be on track from June 2017.



To add to the fancy, the train’s interior colour scheme will match the exterior. Each passenger will have a seperate LCD screens which will display movies and shows. These screens will also provide safety instructions and other information as well. It will also have digital destination boards and passenger reservation charts. For the visually challenged, the train will have integrated braille displays. On the lines of Rajdhani and Shatabdi, catering service will be included in Tejas fares.

Tejas Express will consist of executive and chair cars. In terms of safety, it will be equipped with fire-smoke detection and suppression systems. The train will ply at 130 kmph and will cover the Mumbai-Goa distance in 8 hours 25 minutes. After the success of Mumbai-Goa operations, Tejas Express’ is expected to be introduced in the Delhi-Chandigarh section.
